Study for the Assyrian King in Israelites Oppressed In the winter of 1890–91, after receiving the Library commission, Sargent traveled to Egypt, Greece, and Constantinople to gather ideas for the project. On this trip he made numerous copies from ancient art, both at museums and in situ; he incorporated many of these details into his mural cycle. This drawing after a relief of an Assyrian king appears in the lunette Israelites Oppressed.
