reproduction of Frieze of Prophets
Reproduction of Frieze of Prophets in a specially manufactured frame, Cosmos Pictures Company*
The earliest reproductions consisted of halftone black-and-white versions from photographs or engravings. Prints in a brown or sepia tone followed, and in turn were followed by color pictures. In 1948, the Library sold hand-colored photographs of Frieze of Prophets in five panels. Several firms produced special frames to showcase either an individual prophet or the spread of the whole frieze. In addition to the art prints available, Frieze appeared in book illustrations, in religious educational literature, on the covers of church bulletins, in ecclesiastical stained glass, on calendars, and in wall decorations.
