Restoration as a collaborative effort

The present cleaning and restoration of the murals seeks to respect Sargent’s conception of the Hall as a unified whole. The project requires careful consideration of the relationships between the murals and their applied relief elements, architectural surroundings, and lighting. Close collaboration between conservators, architects, decorative paint specialists, and lighting designers will continue to inform the decisions made throughout the restoration.
