Sargent finished the last of the panels for the Museum’s murals in 1925, and sent them from his London studio to Boston for installation. He made plans to travel to the States to supervise the installation, wryly telling a friend, “Now the American things are done, and so, I suppose, I may die when I like.” A few days later, he died in his sleep at his home in London at the age of sixty-nine.
