Mysteries of the Rosary modelsAfter completing the model for Dogma of the Redemption, Sargent constructed the model sections for the adjacent ceiling and side walls. These pieces show Sargent’s experimentation with the placement and type of relief elements. On Joyful Mysteries he created plaster (and possibly papier-mâché) relief pieces and on Sorrowful Mysteries he experimented with plaster, cloth, and metal. Unfortunately the models for Joyful and Sorrowful Mysteries were among the pieces destroyed in 1942.
